Science at the University of Barcelona
My research focus is on institutions and public policy. Particularly, the analysis of agenda setting and the influence of NGOs and interest groups.
More About me
I have several hobbies, cinema and music but above all literature, it provides me with a parallel window to society and life. Among the recent authors that have moved me the most are Chimamanda Ngozi, Agata Kristoff, Joan Sales and Alvaro Enrigue. I’m in a relationship with Cesc Martínez who also writes when the two sons we have give us a break. I really enjoy journalistic essays, the ones I have enjoyed most recently are from Patrick Radden Keefe, Amin Maalouf, Géraldine Schwarz and Miquel Ramos. I like mountains and canyons, I love the Catalan Pyrenees and the Sumidero and Copper Canyon in México. I discovered the cathedral groves in the Northamerica’ Pacific Northwest and will never forget them. Most of the time I’m an urbanite, my heart is divided between Barcelona and Mexico City, from where I come.
Public policy and collective action research
I have studied which interest groups have access to policy-making, looking especially at their interaction with the Spanish Parliament and the Supreme Court. I am currently investigating when and why interest groups interact with parliamentary groups, specifically during the amendment procedure. In addition, I am involved in the analysis of abstract review (recursos de inconstitucionalidad) in the Spanish case, examining the determinants of state and regional government behavior as plaintiffs.
This is possible thanks to public funding received to carry out several research projects, the most recent of which is: "Opening the black box: political, institutional and informational determinants of the legislative process in Spain" (Spanish Ministry of Innovation and Science).
